Healthy food Preparation and meal planner

If you are a superhuman who’s busy throughout the day and want to stay on track to achieve your goals – you need to start meal prepping. There are many reasons it’s considered a best practice approach to not only weight loss but healthy living in general.

Just think about all the time you’d save each day not constantly having to find recipes, buy groceries, wash, chop and cook ingredients, and clean up a messy kitchen.

Or the flip side, standing at the cafe at lunch time trying to work out the best option that will keep you on track (or not)

There are several ways to meal prep, but it’s essentially taking the time to prepare foods earlier to save time later. Whether you spend 20 minutes or 2 hours preparing for the week, any time counts!

Meal prepping is so handy because it can:

  • keep you on track
  • avoid convenient/quick foods
  • save money
  • save time
  • keep you in total control
  • reduce waste
  • reduce stress

Plus it only takes an hour or two to do and will save you in the long run!

Here are 5 easy tips that will help you with meal prepping:

Keep it simple and start small

Meal prepping is all about YOUR food and YOUR needs, so start with simple recipes or foods that you know you’ll like and focus on preparing just two days’ worth of meals at a time. Once you get along in the process, try preparing meals good for 3 days.

Make a list

It’s normal to fail in the first attempt- you might not like what you have prepared and that’s okay. You can minimise getting into the same mistake by getting your shopping list prepared. So choose your recipes, write out your shopping list, and bravely forge into the supermarket.

Simplify the prep and clean-up processes

You can toss ingredients in a bag with seasoning or marinade to quickly and evenly coat them and use a meal prep set of containers to keep your meals uniform.

Frozen is fine

Simply toss a mixture of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots into a freezer bag, press all the air out and throw it in the freezer. You’re ready for the next meal prep!

Keep things in order

Save more time by multi-tasking. Because why not? Start your baking or roasting first, then move to stove-top cooking and microwaving. You can oven bake your chicken before you need to steam any veggies.

At the end of the day, the best way to meal prep is to find what works best for you and have fun as you try new methods and recipes. Some people might already have figured how to meal prep- so it’s always a great idea to listen to their suggestions.
