The Basketball Strength Squad is a Basketball-specific strength & conditioning program aiming to support young basketball players aged 10 - 17 looking to lift their on-court performances through elite coaching. Each session is limited to a small number of young players at a time to ensure each gets as much support as required while still thriving in a supportive team environment.

What is Basketball Strength Squad?

Each session is limited to a small number of young players at a time to ensure each gets as much support as required while still thriving in a supportive team environment.

Why do I need this?

Strength training – also called weight lifting or simply ‘lifting’ has many well known benefits for the general population

  • Protecting bone health
  • preserving muscle mass,
  • improving balance,
  • aiding weight loss to name a few

But for the budding basketball athlete, there are some critical reasons why those on the Basketball Australia Pathway need to be adding strength training to their weekly regime.

Basketball is an explosive sport. To succeed you need to be fast, strong and powerful all over the court. 

If you want to get stronger you need to build and harness your power to improve your explosiveness and get stronger on the floor!

Additionally, to improve footwork skills as well as improve cardio-respiratory stamina, speed and agility training is important for young basketballers. This is also a key in decreasing injury for athletes.

Basketball requires many changes in direction, quick movements, and explosive jumping. To ensure the athlete can perform these skills properly and handle the stresses that come with the sport, speed and agility training will be an important training component to include in your training regimen.

These drills are incorporated into the basketball strength program to help squad members maximize performance and decrease the risk of injury.

Letting Eye of the Tiger take the guess work out of your training program off the court allows you to dominate on it.

How does it work?

After an initial baseline testing and goal setting consultation, you’ll be given a recommended training schedule based on your availability, season calendar workload and injury history.

Then its as simple as booking into up to 4 dedicated sessions per week and train alongside other squad members. Each session will focus on either Strength, Agility & Conditioning or a combination of focus areas.

The squad works on an 8 week term cycle and every 4 weeks, the squad will undergo performance testing to measure progress against their initial baseline markers.

How much does it cost?

$70 per week by Direct Debit or $600 upfront term payment – that’s just $15 per session!
